Bearzi, G., Fortuna, C. M. & Notabartolo di Sciara, G.: Unusual sighting of a striped dolphin (Stenella coeruleoalba) in the Kvarneric, Northern Adriatic sea. Nat. Croat., Vol. 7, No. 3., 169-176, 1998, Zagreb.

An adult striped dolphin, Stenella coeruleoalba, was encountered east of the island of Lošinj on 6 May 1996, and observed from a small inflatable boat for 5 hours. The only cetacean species that has been consistently observed in the Northern Adriatic Sea in the last decades is the bottlenose dolphin, Tursiops truncatus.
Occasional reports of striped dolphins in the Central and Northern Adriatic Sea may simply reflect the occurrence of stray individuals, but the fact that such observations have only occurred recently might be indicative of a progressive extension of the striped dolphin's range, as has been reported for other Mediterranean areas.

Stipcevic, M., Lukac, G. & Radovic, D.: Status and occurrence of the Sandwich Tern Sterna sandvicensis in Croatia. Nat. Croat., Vol. 7, No. 3., 177-198, 1998, Zagreb.

The authors present information on the status of the Sandwich Tern Sterna sandvicensis in Croatia using  historical and recent data collected on the Adriatic coast in the period from 1984 to 1997. As well as providing a survey of occurrence, seasonal distribution and migration, they have estimated the number of wintering birds and listed the coastal areas that are most important for migration and wintering of Sandwich Terns on the coast of Croatia.

Kucinic, M., Jalzic, B. & Pelic, D.: Xylocampa areola (Esper, 1789), Eurois occulta (Linnaeus, 1758) and Euxoa decora (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), new elements in the noctuid fauna (Insecta: Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) of Croatia. Nat. Croat., Vol. 7, No. 3., 213-226, 1998, Zagreb.

Three new noctuid species for Croatian fauna were found during entomological research in the lower part of the Neretva River and on Mt. Biokovo and Mt. Velebit: Xylocampa areola (Esper, 1789) (Neretva), Eurois occulta (Linnaeus, 1758) and Euxoa decora (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775) (Velebit). A brief faunistic review is given for all three species, as well as their biological and zoogeographical characteristics. The distribution of the genus Euxoa Hübner (1821) in Croatia is shown.

Tomasevic, M.: The analysis of the flora of the Pozega Valley and the surrounding mountains. Nat. Croat., Vol. 7, No. 3., 227-274, 1998, Zagreb.

Researching the vascular flora of the Požega Valley and the surrounding mountains, altogether 1467 plant taxa were recorded. An analysis was made of which floral elements particular plant taxa belonged to, as well as an analysis of the life forms. In the vegetation cover of this area plants of the Eurasian floral element as well as European plants represent the major proportion. This shows that in the phytogeographical aspect this area belongs to the Eurosiberian-Northamerican region. According to life forms, vascular plants are distributed in the following numbers: H=649, T=354, G=148, P=212, Ch=70, Hy=33.

In this short communication a new locality for the endemic Illyric-Adriatic floral species Corydalis acaulis (Wulfen) Pers. on the island of Vela Kluda is reported. A previously known locality (Visiani 1852) of the species in Šibenik is confirmed.
